The dana mandis in Ludhiana and even at sub-division level chosen as the sites for protests

Finally, the district administration gets serious about a separate site for dharnas away from the city as new Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggarwal on Tuesday said protesters would not be allowed to block main roads and create chaos outside mini-secretariat.

He said dana mandis in Ludhiana and even at sub-division level had been chosen as the sites for protests, and during the procurement season,a chunk of land from the Ludhiana Improvement Trust or MC would be given to the protesters.

Dana Mandis at Jalandhar Bypass and near Arora cinema are the sites for Ludhiana while dana mandis at Jagraon,Khanna and Samrala will be the other sites. He said if still people continued to protest anywhere, due action would be taken against them as per law.

Aggarwal said he would be convening a meeting with the Police Commissioner and other authorities soon in this regard. He would also convey the message to the protesters about the site after the meeting.

He added that a deputation of five members out of the protesters could come and give their memorandum to him or his officers.

On Tuesday, members of NGO Raksha Jyoti Foundation met district revenue officer (DRO) Mukesh Kumar and gave him a memorandum regarding allocation of a site for dharnas so that general public could no longer be harassed.

The protesters often block Bharat Nagar Chowk,Ferozepur Road and even Delhi road in support of their demands which cause inconvenience to the general public.
