MC removes 23 encroachments, leaves liquor vend alone

The MC, on Wednesday, removed 23 encroachments from Transport Nagar that include some illegal slums and dhabas. However, due to resistance from people it failed to remove a 15-feet encroachment by a liquor vend.

“People gathered near the liquor vend and made it difficult for the MC to demolish the encroachment. The police also accompanied us but it became impossible to remove it,” said a source from the civic body who was present on the spot.

When contacted, Abdul Sattar (superintendent of the tehbazaari wing in Zone-A) said, “Many cars were parked outside the vend, which made it impossible for the machines to move forward. The encroachment will be removed soon.”
