In a major success,the police have nabbed the leader of a dreaded gang known for snatching luxury cars at gunpoint,and recovered one loaded pistol and three country-made weapons from him. Identified as Tejinderpal Singh alias Bunty,25,the accused is learnt to have been arrested on Wednesday. ADCP (crime) Harjinder Singh said the police had managed to bust the gang last year and arrest its two members. But Bunty managed to be on the run. The police received a tip-off that this gang was planning a strike once again. For this purpose,Bunty had come into the town with the weapons which were to be used by him and other members of the gang. While the police managed to arrest Bunty,the other members of the gang managed to flee. According to police, the Bunty gang used to snatch luxury cars only. Their modus operandi was to block the path of a car,point the gun to the driver and then flee with the car. Bunty is wanted in some four cases and his right hand man Aman Fauji who jumped bail is also on the police radar. With Buntys arrest,the police have managed to solve two cases of car-snatching involving the owner of Hotel Friends and a doctor whose Swift car was stolen from outside Churasia Pan Bhandar on Malhar road. Both the incidents happened last year. It is learnt that Buntys desire to get rich quickly took him to crime. His father Jagdev Singh is also in jail under the NDPS Act.
