Kamla Lohtia students back striking teachers

The stay-in strike in Kamla Lohtia Sanatan Dharam College entered the sixth day today.

The stay-in strike in Kamla Lohtia Sanatan Dharam College entered the sixth day today. The students too staged a protest against the management and came out of their classes. The college unit of Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers Union (PCCTU) stated that Principal Shiv Mohan Sharma had failed to play a conducive role in resolving the issue so far.

Union President Rohit Kumar stated that it being stay-in strike,they carried out admissions in the college. But the management has failed to come for table talks.

However,the college Vice-President Sandeep Aggarwal,speaking on behalf of the management,said that the striking teachers forced the students to come out of their classes today by “warning them that they would face the consequences by getting poor marks in internal assessment if they did not do so”. He stated that this is not justified.

Out of 50 teachers,40 are working and the rest are on strike. He asked the students to attend their classes regularly. Rohit Kumar,however,said that they had never told the students to come out of their classes and the management is just levelling false allegations.

The union is demanding cancellation of suspension of one of the teacher,Sunil Aggarwal,but the management has refused to do so.
