IMA stir against NCHRH Bill on June 25

Indian Medical Association ‘s (IMA) Ludhiana branch will protest against the proposed National Commission for Human Resource in Health (NCHRH) Bill on June 25. It says this Bill is “anti-doctor”. The protest will be supported by PCMS and IMA’s Punjab wing as well,confirmed Dr Hardeep Singh,president of PCMS Association Punjab,and Dr Balwinder Kumar,chairman of IMA’s In-Service wing,Punjab.

NCHRH proposes to have government-nominated persons and they can be from any field who will control the affairs of the medical profession. So it will be a government body only.

“Doctors are strictly against this and this is against democracy too. We need elected members in the council governing doctors and no bureaucratic control. The supremacy of the Medical Council of India must be maintained,” said Dr D P Arora,president of the IMA Ludhiana branch.
