Call received at 7.20 AM,traced to PCO in Sanjay Colony; anti-sabotage and dog squad carry out thorough search
A Hoax bomb call created confusion at a school situated near Jallandhar bypass on Wednesday morning.
An unidentified caller informed the police control room that he had seen a bomb-like object lying near the Green Land public school.
It has been learnt that the caller did not divulge much and immediately ended the call. The police control room received the call around 7.20 AM and within five minutes the anti-sabotage drill was put into action.
Thanks to the early hours the school was yet to open and only two school buses with students had reached the campus at the time of the call. The students were stopped from entering the campus which was then sealed and a search for the bomb began. The school has two branches and both were searched by the anti-sabotage squad and a dog squad. After a thorough exercise no bomb was found.
Rajesh Rudra, director of the school said,It is sad that some one tried to play a prank on the school knowing fully well that children of all ages come to study here.
Station House Officer Devinder Chaudhry said,We have traced this call which was made from a PCO situated in Sanjay Colony. We have called the owner of the PCO and are trying to make a sketch of the person who made the call. We will locate this person who created so much tension and that too for an institute where children come to study.
The Green Land public school is one of the largest schools in the city which enjoys a student strength of about 3,500 students.
