Fire in Kotwali parking lot; 20 cars, autos burnt

A major fire incident happened at Kotwali parking lot on Tuesday.

The parking is situated behind the books market. Fire officials said that “luckily, the fire was controlled in time and none of the shops at the books market was affected”.
The fire started around 2 pm and was doused around 4.35 pm. Station fire officer Rajinder Sharma told Newsline, “Fire started from a vehicle parked in Kotwali parking area. Around 20-25 cars and autos impounded by police were gutted. However, no one was injured.”

Three fire tenders were sent to the spot. Sharma added that “people said that fire started from a sparking in one of the cars but reason of the fire is not confirmed”.
