A general meeting of the members of the Association of Punjab School Education Board Affiliated Schools was held in Ludhiana under the presidentship of Rajinder Sharma.
The association has demanded from the board to extend the dates for submission of examination forms of Classes X and XII and also that for depositing the continuation fee. He said the PSEB had declared June 14,2010m as the last date for submission of examination forms for Class X,and June 21 for Class XII. The last date for submission of continuation fee forms for classes IX,X,XI,XII is June 18.
Sharma said,According to the notification of the Punjab government, all schools in the state are closed from May 24 for summer vacation. How can school authorities submit the forms on the prescribed dates? The examination forms are submitted after the signature of students. As students are not available due to vacations,it is demanded by all members of the association to change the submission dates for the abovesaid forms. The dates should be sometime in July after the declaration of results.
Sukhpal Singh said the Punjab School Education Board had six compulsory subjects and three optional subjects for Class X Punjab Open School students. A similar policy is implemented for regular students. But if there is no difference or choice of subjects in regular or Punjab Open School stream,it will decrease the admission rate in the Punjab Open School stream. On the other hand,in National Open School, there is only five subjects to pass in Class X and there are more than 15 subjects from which students had to choose only five subjects. It is a humble request that there should be choice of subjects in Punjab Open School between mathematics, social science and general science, he said.
According to the notification of the school board,Rajinder Sharma said, the minimum age limit for Class VIII examination is 12 years. But for Class X Punjab Open School students,it is 17 years.
On the other hand,in National Open School,it is 14 years for Class X students. Hence,it is requested that the same policy should be implemented for the Punjab Open School students too, he said.
