Close on the heels of former district Congress president Jagmohan Sharma being booked by the city police,it was the turn of former district youth president Komal Khanna who was booked by the police on Saturday for setting a person on fire.
ADCP Swapan Sharma informed,Harvinder Singh, the complainant in this case, has told us that he and Khanna had some tiff during the festival of Lohri and that Khanna nursed a grudge against him.
Late on Friday night Khanna, along with two unknown persons, doused Singh with some inflammable material and set him on fire, he added.
Harvinder is reported to have received 60 per cent burns and is currently undergoing treatment at Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).
Khanna has been booked under Section 307 of the IPC and is currently absconding.
The incident took place in the congested Nawan Mohalla of the city.
Singh works as a salesman. We are conducting raids and very soon he will be arrested, added Sharma.
In the last two days, two Congress leaders have been booked by the city police. On Friday Jagmohan Sharma was booked for grabbing land.
