Suktej Gill,a city-based architect is trying to introduce the city to nature through his photography exhibition. The exhibition titled two houses two architects showcases pictures of two distinct houses built by well known architects Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier. The exhibition will run till November 27 at Gallery Artmosphere. These houses were built in the late 1920s and early 1930s when the architecture all around was classic. These two buildings which were modern in design set a new era in the field of architecture. These buildings took nature into consideration and made it an intrinsic part of the building, said Gill,who is a trained architect from Chandigarh College of Architecture after which he pursued his masters in Texas. Gills research includes selected works of Japanese architect Tadao Ando,Edward J Romniec and Le Corbruiser. Gill runs a studio cum office called Cosmos. The young architect has travelled to Japan to study the work of 1995 Pritzker fellowship Tadao Ando. About the houses in the city Gill said,We live in a concrete jungle. The houses in the city have little to with nature. The homes that we build keep us inside,indoors however we needs homes which could push us outside. The house built by Wright were just that. They forced people to come outside on to the terraces and enjoy the nature. People in Japan also have small spaces but the use of light in these homes is very good which is completely absent here in Ludhiana. Even small opening lets light inside homes, added Gill.
