Civil surgeon raps doctors for reporting late to work

Dr Satwant Kaur Bhalla,Civil Surgeon of Ludhiana,has given an ultimatum to employees for arriving late to work and has sought their explanation. According to sources,“On the instructions of the Civil Surgeon,Dr Satish Chander Verma raided Primary Health Centre in Sidhwan Bet and it was found that a majority of the staff did not report to duty on time. Four doctors and a senior medical officer who are supposed to arrive at 8 am were not present. Similarly,the paramedical staff which has 9 members also did not report on time. The paramedical staff is supposed to reach at 9 am but they were found absent. Dr Verma has reported the detail to the Civil surgeon for further action.” Confirming this,Dr Bhalla said,“Dr Verma has reported me what he observed and found. I am going to be strict with latecomers,following which I have sought their explanation.” She further said,“I have directed all the medical staff to report to their duty on time. Anyone who reports to late to work would be punished accordingly.” It needs to be mentioned here that staff of many homeopathic and ayurvedic dispensaries also reach late in the rural areas and patients are at the receiving end.
