LUDHIANA: A rally to highlight atrocities against labourers was organised by the Karkhaana Mazdoor Union at Dhandari on Sunday. The protest was mainly against the murder of one labourer on November 12 by the owner of a factory on demanding his pending salary. Lakhwinder Singh,organiser of the rally,said,“Till the time labourers themselves are not aware of their rights and raise voice in unison,conditions will remain the same and they will be suppressed. So we want to encourage labourers to stand up for their rights.” Dr Amritpal said that proper arrangements for healthcare facilities for labourers should be made by the factory owners.

Roller skating tourney ends

LUDHIANA: More than 250 students from various schools participated in the Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex Roller Skating Championship which concluded at Guru Nanak International School,Model Town,on Friday. In boys’ category,GNIPS,Model Town,stood first in 1,000m quads in U-19 and 500 m quads in U-16. GNPS,Sarabha Nagar,stood first in 300m quads in U-16 and in 1,000m.

Group song competition ends at KVM

LUDHIANA: Bharat Vikas Parishad,an all-India socio-cultural organisation,organised the 39th All India National Group Song Competition which concluded at Kundan Vidya Mandir on Sunday. As many as 45 teams of various states comprising almost 750 winner students of state-level from all over India India participated in the competition. Acclaimed sitar player Pandit Kushal Dass and tabla player Durjay Bhaumik from Kolkata performed on the occasion.
