Bandh: 9 police teams formed

The teams have been asked to be on duty at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning. While these teams will cover the entire city,special attention is being given to the Dugri area where the victims of 1984 Sikh riots are settled. The teams will hold flag marches in the area and ensure that no untoward incident occurs in their concerned areas. Notable here is that certain hardline parties like the Sant Samaj,Dal Khalsa,Damdami Taksal have given a call for Punjab Bandh to commemorate the passing of 25 years after the anti-Sikh riots.

The teams constituted are s below:
Team 1:will be headed by SP City 1 and include DSP (North),SHO division nos 1 and 4 with 30 jawans. This team’s nodal area will be Ghanta Ghar and will take care of areas like Chuara Bazaar,Ghanta Ghar chowk and Akal Garh market. The responsibility of smooth flow of traffic on and under the elevated road is also the responsibility of this team.

Team 2:to be headed by DSP (central) and include SHO division no.s 2 and 3 with 10 jawans. The nodal point of this team is Jama Masjid and will look after areas like Field Ganj,Kari Pura and Civil Lines.

Team 3:will be headed by area SP and include DSP (D),incharge CIA (1),in-charge economic wing and 10 jawans armed with anti-riot vehicle,and will guard the nodal point of Bharat Nagar chowk. The areas under this team’s jurisdiction include Mall Road,Bus Stand and Mini Secretariat.

Team 4:will be headed by SP-City 2 and include DSP Atam Nagara,SHO Model Town and 30 jawans. This team’s nodal point will be Satpal Mittal School,near Dugri,and will look after the most sensitive areas of Dugri,phase nos 1 and 2,where majority of anti-Sikh riot victims reside.

Team 5:to be headed by SP-City 3 and include DSP (East),SHO division no. 7 and SHO,Salem Tabri. Along with 10 jawans,this team will look after areas like Jalandhar by- pass,Dana Mandi,Salem Tabri and Simla Puri.

Team 6:will be headed by DSP,Industrial Area,and include SHO (Focal Point),SHO division no. 6 and with 10 jawans looking after areas like Basti Jodhewal,Samrala Chowk,Sherpur and Focal Point.

Team 7:to be headed by DSP (East) and include SHO Simla Puri,SHO Koom Kalan; will look after area falling under Gill Bridge to Gill road.

Team 8:to be headed by DSP (Traffic) and include SHO,Sarabha Nagar,and 10 jawans; will look after area from Sarabha Nagar to Hero Bakery.

Team 9:to be headed by DSP (GA) and include SHO,NRI division,and SHO,Jodhewal; will cover area from Bhai Bala chowk to Ghumar mandi.
