Assam resident held for fraud

The Sadar police on Thursday arrested an Assam resident for allegedly duping a family of Rs 16 lakh on the pretext of the arranging kidney for their ailing 70-year-old relative.

The Sadar police on Thursday arrested an Assam resident for allegedly duping a family of Rs 16 lakh on the pretext of the arranging kidney for their ailing 70-year-old relative.

The accused,Partha Protim Gohaye alias Baba from Assam,is an engineer by profession. A case under sections 406,420. 506 and 120 B of IPC has been registered against Partha and the alleged kingpin of the scam,Narinder Pal alias Guru of Sabdulpur village of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Sub-Inspector Amandeep Singh Brar,SHO at Sadar police station said police arrested Partha late on Wednesday from the Ludhiana bus stand.

According to the SHO,the accused has admitted to cheating three more people on the pretext of arranging kidneys for them.
