UP polls 2017: Peace Party set to hold 100 rallies to ‘expose’ SP

The party has prepared a list of “misdeeds” of the SP government when it comes to Muslims.

In the run-up to the 2017 Assembly polls, Peace Party has announced that it will hold 100 rallies across the state to “expose” Samajwadi Party over the promises it had made to the Muslim community.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Peace Party chief Dr Ayub said they will hold one rally every 10 days in UP. On Tuesday, a rally is scheduled to be held at Kushinagar district. The main agenda of these meetings will be to corner SP and its alleged soft approach towards RSS.

Ayub has made his son Irfan the in-charge of the rallies. Irfan has shifted base from Gorakhpur to Moradabad and purchased a house there ro get a foothold in western UP.

“Our main demand is implementation of the Ranganath Mishra Commission report. It is concerned with central government. But our focus will be on SP government and its misrule,” said Ayub.

For the Akhilesh government, Peace Party has a separate agenda.

“We will expose its policy of going soft towards RSS. Its hidden agenda will be exposed. It has clandestine relationship with the BJP,” Ayub claimed.

The list includes over 100 riots and communal incidents, reservation for Muslims as promised in poll manifesto, ignorance of Urdu with no new schools being set up and poor development in Muslim-dominated areas.

Claiming that Akhilesh’s decision to slap NSA and Goonda Act on those arrested on charges of cow slaughter will also be raised, Ayub said: “They have passed such a draconian law. Anybody can lodge a false complaint of cow slaughter and Muslims will be implicated with NSA and Goonda Act. It should be repealed.”

The party has also demanded that beef be provided at subsidised rate of Rs 5 per kg at fair price shops for the poor and Muslims. “New slaughter houses should also be constructed by the state government for Muslims,” said Ayub.

Peace Party had taken everyone by surprise when it contested the 2012 Assembly election in UP for the first time and won four seats. Though its three MLAs deserted Ayub, the party still draws support among Muslims, mainly the weaver community.
