UP: Dalit man shot over employer’s feud with neighbour in Etah
The accused, Dinesh Yadav, who had allegedly been pressuring the store owner, Ram Babu, to vacate the premises, has been arrested, officials said

A 30-year-old Dalit man was shot at in Etah district’s Jalesar town on Monday afternoon over a dispute between a neighbour and the owner of a local medical store where he is employed, the police said.
The victim was identified as Anil Kumar.
The accused, Dinesh Yadav, who had allegedly been pressuring the store owner, Ram Babu, to vacate the premises, has been arrested, officials said.
Yadav, whose house is adjacent to the medical store, had frequent quarrels with Babu over the issue, it is learnt.
On Monday, Yadav allegedly opened fire and the bullet hit Anil Kumar in the back. He was rushed to hospital where doctors said his condition is stable.
After the news of the incident spread, members of the Dalit community, who had gathered for an Ambedkar Jayanti procession in another part of the town, reached the spot and raised slogans, demanding an immediate arrest of the accused and stringent action against him. The situation was brought under control after the police assured them of action.
“We have arrested Dinesh Yadav in connection with the case,” said Etah Circle Officer Nitish Garg, adding that a preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had been threatening Kumar in an attempt to force Ram Babu to vacate the store.
But neither Babu nor Anil Kumar ever reported the matter to police, officials said.
