UP: Dacoit gets death for murder of cops, civilian

A Court in Farrukhabad on Friday sentenced a 48-year-old dacoit to death for his involvement in the murder of three policemen and a civilian during an encounter in the Kampil area of the city in 2005.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 7.05 lakh on Devendra Kumar alias Fauji, a member of the Kallua gang.

According to the prosecution, the incident dates back to September 2005, when a police team embarked on a search for members of the Kallua gang, which was known to be active in Farrukhabad, Shahjahanpur and Badaun.
