Three arrested for looting minister’s car

Three persons were arrested in Fatehpur district in connection with the attack on a UP cabinet minister’s driver and loot of his vehicle in Kanpur.

Three persons were arrested in Fatehpur district in connection with the attack on a UP cabinet minister’s driver and loot of his vehicle in Kanpur,police sources said here on Sunday. The private vehicle of Health Minister Anant Kumar Mishra was stolen after his driver Rakesh,30,was shot at and critically injured by unidentified persons in Kanpur on Saturday,they said.

The armed men stopped Mishra’s car near Aryanagar circle and fired at the driver before escaping with the vehicle,police said.

During routine checking in Thariyaon area in Fatehpur district,police spotted a vehicle fitted with a red beacon,they said. When police attempted to intercept the vehicle,its occupants opened fire and fled,leaving the car behind. Police chased and arrested Anuj Agarwal,Sanjay Singh and Pawan Tiwari,all residents of Allahabad district,and recovered the vehicle,sources said.
