Six cops booked after woman’s death in custody

The Station Officer (SO) of Raniganj police station,along with five other policemen,including a woman constable in Pratapgarh district,have been transferred to district lines in connection with the alleged death of a 25-year-old woman in custody on April 30.

A case has also been registered against them on a complaint lodged by Balram,father of the victim,Hema,a resident of Naziyapur village under Raniganj police station. Three relatives of Balram have also been named in the FIR.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Pratapgarh),Visarjan Das,said,“The SO of Raniganj police station,Santosh Tiwari,a Sub-Inspector and four constables,including a lady constable,have been transferred to lines. The case has been registered against them under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code at Raniganj police station.”
