STATE BASIC Education Minister Ramgovind Choudhary has written to all IAS and PCS officers, public representatives and the staff of his department, urging them to admit their children in government primary schools. He has taken the initiative following the Allahabad High Court directives in this regard in August this year.
Leading from the front, Choudhary also claimed that his granddaughter will also study in a government primary school.
The development comes in wake of the high court directing the state chief secretary to work out the modalities, within six months, to ensure that all government servants send their children to primary schools run by the state basic education department.

The list includes members of the judiciary, government officials, semi-government employees, staff of local bodies and representatives of the people.
Last week, Choudhary’s letter has been sent to all public representatives, including MP, MLAs, representatives of various associations and also to state government officials.
“The letter is only to motivate and no orders have been issued. It only highlights that the standard of government primary schools are much better and also are available in every village. If they send their wards to these schools, it will set an example,” a senior official in basic education department said.
When contacted, Choudhary said: “I have written a letter to all requesting them to admit their wards in government schools. I have also requested them to suggest ways for implementing the proposal. I have not yet received a reply from anyone.”
In August, Choudhary had announced on the floor of the state Assembly that he will request everyone with folded hands to lend support to improve the education standard in government schools.
“Sending our children to these schools was one way to help these schools getting better. I will write personal letters to all public representatives and officials of the state government, including IAS and PCS officers, urging them to send their children to our government primary schools,” Choudhary had said.
