Hours after being scolded by his mother for trying to bunk school, a class III student was found hanging from a tree with a rope in a village in Bagwala police station area of Etah district on Monday, police said Tuesday. The police claimed that the boy had committed suicide. However, there was no eyewitness or any other evidence to confirm it as a case of suicide. Bagwala police station SHO, Vinod Kumar Sharma said, “The autopsy report has stated ante-mortem hanging as the cause behind death.” “The inspection of the spot suggested that the boy —Kuldeep — perhaps reached the tree using a makeshift elevated structure and used a rope for hanging himself. Kuldeep’s school bag and slippers were recovered from under the tree,” added the SHO. Twelve-year-old Kuldeep was the only son of Hari Singh, a farmer, of Kutuburpur village. He was studying at a primary school in adjoining village. On Monday morning, the SHO said, Kuldeep was not ready to go to school following which his mother scolded and forced him to leave for school. The locals told the police that Kuldeep did not go to school and was seen sitting under the same tree located in the field owned by his father. A few minutes later, one of the villagers spotted Kuldeep’s body hanging from the tree. He immediately informed others and the boy’s family.
