Former BJP national president Rajnath Singh has asked the states partymen to take their responsibilities seriously. Defending state party president Surya Pratap Shahi,Singh said the workers should abide by the responsibilities Shahi gave them and work towards strengthening the party. Addressing the workers at the concluding day of the state executive committee at the Scientific Convention Centre in Lucknow on Sunday,he advised the workers to let go their love for posts and instead, work for the party. His speech made one more point clear: the party will not tolerate any indiscipline and everyone can voice their woes through proper channels. On Saturday, the conventions inaugural day, pamphlets pointing fingers towards the partys organisational secretary,Nagendra Nath, were distributed among the media, accusing him of gross anomalies in ticket distribution. The incident cast its shadow on Singhs concluding speech. The BJP is the only party which has proper channels to address complaints. The workers must refrain from washing dirty linen in public. Even the president can commit mistakes but cant we all,in the benefit of the party, just ignore them and gracefully accept our responsibility? He even asked Shahi to take action if things go out of hand: The party will not tolerate any indiscipline and in case matter get worse, the state president should take appropriate action. Hitting out at the Centre and state governments over the land acquisition issue,he said the BJP should take the matter up. We have to ensure that till the time the Union government makes amendment in the land acquisition Act,not a single inch of land is taken for any project. The state government may have taken some steps for the farmers, but I am not completely satisfied with them. The party will continue to support the rights of the farmers. The partys national general secretary Narendra Singh Tomar said the BJP should now try for a comeback in the next assembly elections. The circumstances are just right as the people have placed their trust in the party. It is for the workers to achieve this goal, he said. The leaders present on the occasion included national general secretaries Radhey Mohan Singh and Karuna Shankar Shukla, national secretary and former MP Santosh Gangwar, national vice president Kalraj Mishra and Lucknow MP and former state minister Lalji Tandon.
