Rail traffic disrupted as goods train derails on Kanpur-Jhansi route

Rail traffic on Kanpur-Jhansi route remained disrupted for a large part of Tuesday after five wagons of a goods train carrying coal derailed in the Govindpuri area.

Rail traffic on Kanpur-Jhansi route remained disrupted for a large part of Tuesday after five wagons of a goods train carrying coal derailed in the Govindpuri area in the morning.

Due to the derailment,the railway authorities cancelled Kanpur-Chitrakoot Dham Express,terminated two trains at Bhimsen railway station and diverted three important trains to Allahabad from Bhimsen station.

Railway authorities have maintained that the cause behind the mishap is still unclear and have confirmed that no one was injured in the derailment. A team of technical experts will probe into the cause of the mishap. Railway authorities said the rail traffic would return to normal by evening. The goods train after loading coal from Kanpur railway yard was on way to Parichha in Jhansi district when it got derailed in the Govindpuri area.

The railways terminated Kanpur-Mahoba Passenger and Jhansi-Lucknow Intercity Express at Bhimsen railway station; and diverted Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Gorakhpur Super Fast Express and others to Allahabad.
