Properties of accused wanted in Umesh Pal murder case attached
Court has ordered attachment of properties of 6 absconding accused: Official

After attaching the properties of Guddu Muslim and Sabir — both accused in the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal — Prayagraj Police on Sunday attached the property of Zainab Fatima, the wife of slain former MLA Khalid Azim alias Ashraf. Fatima is an accused in the case and is suspected of being involved in the murder conspiracy.
Umesh Pal and his two security guards were killed in broad daylight in the Dhoomanganj area of Prayagraj on February 24 this year. Umesh Pal was an eyewitness in the 2005 murder of then BSP MLA Raju Pal in which former MP and gangster Atiq Ahmed was the prime accused.
“Zainab Fatima’s house, located in the Poormufti area of Prayagraj, was attached on Sunday on a court directive… The court has ordered the attachment of properties of six accused wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case. Out of these six, properties of three accused have been attached,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (Prayagraj) Varun Kumar told The Indian Express.
On Saturday, police had attached the properties of Guddu Muslim and Sabir in in Chakarniratul and Mariadih localities, respectively.
The remaining three accused, whose properties are yet to be executed, are slain former MP and gangster Atiq Ahmed’s wife Shaista Parveen, his sister Ayesha Noori, and his associate Aarman.
Shaista Parveen, who is still absconding, carries a reward of Rs 50,000, while Aarman carries a reward of Rs 5 lakh.
So far, police have arrested 11 people in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal and his gunners. Four others, including Atiq’s son, have been killed in police encounters, while Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, were shot dead by three men while they were being taken to a hospital under police escort.
