SHRI RAM Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, a Trust set up by the Centre to build the Ram temple in Ayodhya, has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of pran pratistha (consecration ceremony of the deity) of Lord Ram’s idol in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple in January next year.

The Trust has decided that the pran pratisthacan be done on any day between January 15 and January 24, 2024, and the date would be finalised in accordance with the PM’s schedule.

Speaking to mediapersons after a meeting of the temple construction committee on Monday, Trust general secretary Champat Rai said, “We have sent a request letter to the Prime Minister.”

Asked about the contents of the letter, Rai said, “The Trust has requested the PM to please spare some time from his busy schedule. If he (PM) attends, India’s image will get a boost globally.”

On the possible dates of pran pratistha, Rai said that, “The exact date will be decided by him (PM). The date will be between January 15 and January 24.”

PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the temple in August 2020.

As the deadline for the completion of work on the ground floor of the Ram temple for pran pratistha is nearing, the Trust has expedited the work at the Ram Janmabhoomi site in Ayodhya by increasing the number of staff and workers. Earlier, 550 workers were working on the premises of the Ram temple but the Trust, over the past few weeks, has increased this number to nearly 1,600.

Work, which was earlier being done in 18-hour shifts, is now being carried out round the clock.

The Trust has set a deadline to complete the work on the ground floor by December so that the temple can be opened for devotees by January 2024.

Only flooring and electricity-related work remains to be completed on the ground floor that the houses sanctum sanctorum (Garbha Griha) where the idol of Lord Ram will be installed during a grand function of pran prathistha in January next year, according to the authorities concerned. Sources in the Trust said around 10,000 people would be allowed inside the temple complex during the installation ceremony when the celebrations will be organised at all the prominent temples across the country.

A Trust functionary said the work on the ground and the first floor of the main temple would be completed by January.
