The family members of Hindu Yuva Vahini Ambedkar Nagar district convenor Ram Babu Gupta,who was gunned down by unidentified assailants at Tanda on Sunday,has demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.
At a press conference at the local office of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Thursday,they alleged that Tanda MLA Azimul Haque Pahlwan was involved in the murder of Gupta,but the government was shielding him because he belonged to the ruling Samajwadi Party.
Shyam Babu and Ved Prakash,Guptas brothers,said they had sought an appointment with Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav,but got no response.
I gave an application at the CMs residence on Wednesday to seek time for a meeting. I want to apprise the CM about the facts that the local SP MLA was involved in the murder of my brother, said Shyam Babu,who is Tanda city in-charge of Bajrang Dal.
He said that the police had lodged fake case against him in connection with violence which erupted after his brothers murder. He said that Hauqe had conspired to murder Gupta because the latter was emerging as a leader of Hindus in Tanda area that is dominated by Muslims.
Men of SP MLA had threatened us to face consequences several times in the past, said Ved Prakash. He said that the police forced them not to name the MLA in the FIR.
Gupta was also district in-charge of Bajrang Dal. State head of Bajrang Dal Rakesh Verma demanded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh and government job for one member of the victims family.
He also accused Parliamentary Affairs Minister Azam Khan for allegedly giving a communal twist to the incidents in Tanda in the Assembly. Khan said that houses of only Muslims were torched,he is trying to disturb the communal harmony, Verma said.
Verma said VHP and Bajrang Dal workers will stage demonstrations and go for an indefinite hunger strike on March 16 if the government did not accept their demands.
Council chairman asks govt to provide compensation to victims family in Tanda
Chairman of the UP Legislative Council Ganesh Shankar Pandey on Thursday directed the state government to conduct a high-level inquiry into the murder of Rambabu Gupta,Ambedkar Nagar district convener of Hidu Yuva Vahini,and provide suitable compensation to his family.
The Chairman gave the direction when Bharatiya Janata Party members (BJP) alleged that the state government was neglecting Guptas family.
Speaking on the notice of an adjournment motion,BJP members said that neither any government representative had met the Gupta family nor had the government announced any financial assistance for them,while Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had personally met families of slain DySP Ziaul Haque,Balipur village pradhan Nanhe Lal Yadav and his brother Suresh Yadav,given them financial assistance,and promised government jobs.
