Three carjackers were unsuccessful in stealing an Innova car outside Great India Place,Sector-38A,due to timely intervention by the Noida Police on Thursday. Two of them were arrested.
Pooja Jain, the owner of the car,had come to the mall with her husband and family from their residence in Daryaganj on Thursday evening. Their driver,Surendra, was sitting in the car, parked outside the gates of the mall when the three robbers Mukesh,Raghvendra and R P Rathi approached him.
According to the driver, the three knocked on his window and threatened him at knifepoint before throwing him out of the car. Even as they made off with the car,Surendra ran to a head constable standing near the mall. The head constable,Bhagat, gave chase on his motorcycle and stopped the vehicle.
When Bhagat asked them to step away from the car,all the three came out and tried to flee. Bhagat immediately beckoned Vipin,a traffic constable standing nearby, and together they nabbed two of the robbers Mukesh and Ragvendra. Though another constable pursued the third robber,he managed to get away.
According to the police, the three were employed as security guards in Suratpur.
The policemen put their lives in danger to catch the criminals, who were armed. We need more people like these, who use their presence of mind and act instantly. The public is also advised to alert the police immediately after a crime is committed, said Superintendent of Police (City) Ananth Dev.
