Noida lift crash toll rises to eight, construction firm official arrested

Four more labourers, who were injured after a worker’s lift fell from the 14th floor of an under-construction flat in Greater Noida, died on Saturday, increasing the toll to eight. The deceased have been identified as Arbaaz, 19, a resident of Meerut, Kuldeep Pal, 20, from Kannauj, Maan Ali, 20, from Balrampur and Mohd Ali, 18, from Amroha.

Mohd Kaif, of Meerut, is under treatment at a hospital.

Gautam Buddh Nagar police on Friday arrested a General Manager of Girdhari lal Constructions which was involved in the construction of ‘Dream Valley,’ where the accident occurred.

After preliminary investigation, officials have found that workers had complained about the the lift, which was not fixed properly. ENS
