Murder FIR on cops as accused dies after arrest, STF inspector suspended
The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem and the final rites were performed on Tuesday. Singh, who was into an agricultural business, is survived by four daughters.

A police team comprising two women constables that arrested a 45-year-old drug case accused, who died in hospital after he complained of chest pain, was booked on charges of murder, officials said.
Special Task Force (STF) inspector Raghvendra Singh, who was leading the team, was suspended, officials said.
Ajay Pratap Singh, a resident of Lakhara Sagipur village in Pratapgarh district, had a case registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act case filed at the Gomti Nagar police station in Lucknow. He complained of chest pain when being taken to Lucknow following his arrest and was rushed to a hospital where he died.
His daughter Jhanvi Singh filed a case against the two women constables and others at the Sangipur police station in Pratapgarh, alleging that the police team ignored her requests to allow her father to take along his medicines since he was on medication. No arrests were made yet in connection with the case, the Pratapgarh police said.
Jhanvi told The Indian Express that a police team comprising two women constables and others entered their residence and assaulted her father on Sunday afternoon.
“They put my father in a vehicle and took him away. I requested them to take his medicines which he took regularly. But they ignored my pleas,” she said.
On Sunday evening, Ajay Pratap’s cousin Bajrang Bahadur got a call that the accused had died, she added. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem and the final rites were performed on Tuesday. Singh, who was into an agricultural business, is survived by four daughters.
Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police Satpal said soon after he complained of chest pain, Ajay was taken to a health centre and then was referred to the district hospital where he died. A probe has been ordered into the matter after the deceased’s family has levelled allegations, he added.
Gomti Nagar (Lucknow) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Anshu Jain said the case against Ajay Pratap and others was registered under the NDPS Act two months ago.
