A 16-year-old boy, who had been missing since Monday, was found murdered at an abandoned house of his friend at Krishna Nagar in Lucknow late Wednesday. Police on Thursday detained the boy’s friend and his father for questioning after lodging a case.

Harsh Meghlani, son of businessman Sachchidanand Meghlani, had gone missing on Monday after he went to meet his friend. With no news of his son, Meghlani lodged a missing case with the police.

Krishna Nagar Circle Officer Harendra Kumar said Dhanuk, his son — who could be a minor — and a few others are being questioned but they are yet to be arrested. “We are questioning them and trying to know what could be the motive behind the murder,” he added. The postmortem report is awaited.

Krishna Nagar SHO Sunil Dutt Gaur said the police had been searching for Harsh since Monday. “His location was traced to Natkhera. Once the police searched the area, he was found at Dhanuk’s house late Wednesday,” he added.

Harsh had studied up to Class IX but had dropped out of school a year ago, said Gaur. His father Sachchidanand Meghlani owns a medical store in the area.
