A case of abetment to suicide was registered against a petrol pump owner and two others in Kothi area of Barabanki district on Thursday.
This comes after the manager of the petrol pump,Suresh Kumar,committed suicide on Wednesday and named the pump owner Nand Kishore and one Basudev and Hari Prasad in the two suicide notes that he left behind.
In the suicide note,Suresh accused Nand Kishore,brother of Minister of State for Textile and Silk Industries Sangram Singh,of slapping a penalty of Rs 50,000 on him for the loss of Rs 3 lakh incurred by the petrol pump.
Superintendent of Police of Barabanki Alok Singh said Suresh’s son Santosh,who lodged the FIR,stated that when he went to Parmeshwar Filling Station on Wednesday afternoon to serve lunch to his father,he found his body hanging from the ceiling in his cabin. He immediately informed the police.
According to the police,the two suicide notes were found lying on the table. While one of them named Nand Kishore,the other named Basudev and Hari Prasad. Both notes stated that these people were forcing him to cough up Rs 50,000.
According to the police,Suresh admitted that even if he had sold off his belongings he would not be in a position to the pay the amount.
Singh said he had asked the local station officer to send the suicide notes to forensic experts and get the handwriting verified.
Station Officer Mahendra Kumar Verma of Kothi police station said the loss of Rs 3 lakh and the alleged penalty slapped on the manager would also be verified after interrogation of the accused and employees of the pump.
The police are collecting details about the two accused named in one of the suicide notes. The petrol pump employees and the victim’s son knew nothing about them,Verma added.
