Six months after a 13-year-old mentally-challenged girl was allegedly raped, her ordeal came to light when an ultrasound conducted to pinpoint the cause of her persistent stomach ache revealed that she was pregnant.
On Tuesday, police registered a case against one Anees and sent the girl for a medical examination. The accused was brought to the Pilokhadi police post in the area by the victim’s father late last night. Shocked by her daughter’s claims, the father — who works as a labourer — went to Anees’ residence Monday and allegedly attacked him and two of his relatives with a knife. Anees lives in the victim’s neigbourhood.

It was three days back that the girl complained of stomach ache and was taken to a nearby doctor. As the prescribed medicine brought little relief, she was taken to an ultrasound centre for a test.
After the report confirmed her pregnancy Monday, her father, who had gone to Bulandshahr, rushed back to Meerut.
The parents said that they somehow managed to extract enough information from the 13-year-old to zero down on Anees as the culprit.
Meanwhile, Pilokhadi police post in-charge, Ganesh Chauhan, said: “We have sent her for the medical examination today and will arrest the accused after completion of the inquiry.”
