A 55-year-old man and his 25-year-old son were arrested for allegedly killing his 19-year-old daughter and her 20-year-old “partner” of the same caste in Mehnon village of Gonda district, local police said Tuesday. Superintendent of Police (SP) Ankit Mittal said Prabhavati Chaurasia lodged a complaint that her son Satish Kumar Chaurasia, a farmer, did not return home since Saturday evening based on which a missing person complaint was registered at Dhanepur police station. Satish's father Bideshwari Prasad works in Mumbai. “During the investigation, it was found that the youth and the woman, Arti, both neighbours, were in a relationship,” the SP said. Police said that they also came to know that a woman had died and her family conducted her last rites Sunday without informing anyone in the village. Police then interrogated Arti's father Kripa Ram Chaurasia and her elder brother Raghav Ram Chaurasia, both farmers, who confessed to having murdered the youth over the relationship and disposed of his body in a field outside their village, the SP said. On being inquired about the woman, the father and son informed police that they killed her as well and buried the body at a cremation ground in Ayodhya, the SP added. A team of Gonda police visited Ayodhya to exhume the woman's body, he said. — With PTI Inputs
