LMC slaps notice on 21 govt buildings for house tax default

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has issued attachment notices to 21 state government buildings,which have not paid house tax for over one year.

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has issued attachment notices to 21 state government buildings,which have not paid house tax for over one year. It will attach 9 of these buildings in March.

The office of the 35th wing of PAC in Mahanagar tops the list of defaulters with a due house tax of Rs 1.75 crore. The LMC has issued notice to its commandant and given him 15 days to deposit the tax ,saying that the building could be attached any day after the due date.

With a due of Rs 1.55 crore,Bhagidari Bhawan in Vipin Khand,Gomti Nagar,comes second in the defaulters’ list. The LMC has asked its joint director to deposit the tax within a month. Otherwise,the building will be attached on March 9.

Bhagidari Bhawan,adjacent to the Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal,is a project of Chief Minister Mayawati. These days,Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam is renovating and beautifying the building with chunar stones.

The corporation also plans to attach the UPTRON building in Papar Mill ward on March 9. House tax due on this building is Rs 33.23 lakh.

According to LMC officials,Rs 17.57 lakh is due on National Homeopathy College in Gomti Nagar. It is scheduled to be attached on March 12. With a due tax of Rs 10.95 lakh,the office of the Non-Conventional Energy Development Agency (NEDA) in Vibhuti Khand will also be attached on the same day.

Rural Service Center in Sarvodaya Nagar (Rs 4,02 lakh) and Block Development Officer in Chinhat (Rs 5.70 lakh) will be attached on March 13.

The next day,LMC will attach Vikas Bhawan (Rs 18.01 lakh),PWD offices in zone-4 (Rs 88.01 lakh) and the Irrigation department Office in Colvin College Ward (Rs 14.91).

Other government buildings to which notices have been issued include Auxiliary Nurse-Midwives Training Centre-Mahanagar (Rs 25.55 lakh),LDA hot mix plant-Faizullaganj (Rs 4.22 lakh),LDA community centre- Sector-I of Aliganj (Rs 11.94 lakh),LDA store-Aliganj (Rs 9.32 lakh),LDA Nirala Market (Rs 15.22 lakh),LDA community centre in Sector-H of Aliganj (Rs 1.40 lakh),Hewett Polytechnic (Rs 10.44 lakh),State Public Analysis Laboratory in Sector-C of Aliganj (Rs 27.97 lakh) and Estate Office in Aliganj’s Sector-I (Rs 12.66 lakh).

All these buildings have been given 15 days to deposit the tax.

Additional Municipal Commissioner A C Sinha said,“House tax of these government buildings is due for several years now. Their officials have not deposited the dues even after repeated notices.”
