A group of lawyers in Allahabad went on a strike and abstained from work on Tuesday. The incident is seen as fallout of differences among bar members over the recent recommendation of transfer of three Allahabad High Court judges by the Supreme Court in connection with Ghaziabad provident fund scam case. Taking a serious note of the lawyers agitation,The Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has suspended two senior members, former HCBA president Chhotey Lal Pandey and advocate Jagdish Singh Sengar, from primary membership of the bar. The HCBA held an urgent meet on Tuesday afternoon and resolved to issue show-cause notices to the suspended members, asking them to explain their conduct in disobeying the bars resolution of not opposing the transfer of the judges. The HCBA has supported the apex court recommendation about the transfer of three judges, but another association,Advocates Association,is opposing the move. The SC had decided to transfer the three judges of the Allahabad High Court after their names figured in the Ghaziabad provident fund scam.
