Property and goods worth Rs 2 crore are feared to have been destroyed in a major fire which broke out in an ink manufacturing unit of Dada Nagar industrial area in Kanpur

Property and goods worth Rs 2 crore are feared to have been destroyed in a major fire which broke out in an ink manufacturing unit of Dada Nagar industrial area in Kanpur on Monday morning.

The fire led to several explosions after inflammable solvents kept in the drums caught the fire creating panic in the industrial area. Over 500 drums containing inflammable solvents were stocked inside the unit.

After over 40 fire brigades failed to douse the flames, the Fire department team drew water from the nearby Panki Canal to extinguish the fire. It took the fire personnel more than eight hours to bring the situation in control.
