In 6 years, per capita income in Devipatan region increased: CM

The chief minister said both the state and the central governments have been making efforts to provide public facilities, boost development, tourism and amenities along with assistance to farmers.

Asserting that districts like Balrampur, Bahraich, Shravasti and Gonda in the Devipatan region of the state have come a long way in the past six years, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while reviewing development works for Gonda division, said per capita income in the region increased with the help of tourism and development got a boost during the period.

Comparing the region with Gautam Budh Nagar of six years ago, the chief minister said, “Six years ago, districts like Gautam Budh Nagar were on the top on the list of per capita income, while Balrampur was at the bottom. But, in the past six years, per capita income in the region was enhanced with the help of tourism and development got a boost.” He also announced that Gonda district would soon have an Information Department office.

The chief minister said both the state and the central governments have been making efforts to provide public facilities, boost development, tourism and amenities along with assistance to farmers. He hoped that in the time to come, Balrampur, Gonda, Bahraich and Shravasti would be among the leading districts in the state in terms of per capita income. Conducting an inspection of the under-construction medical college in Gonda, the chief minister said Shravasti airport would also be completed soon. “The airport is proposed to have direct connectivity with Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Kanpur which is significant from the point of view of the Buddhist circuit,” he said.
Adityanath said that he had directed officials to connect every district headquarters in the state with a ring road.

During the review, the chief minister was informed that land for the proposed university, which would be named after “Maa Pateshwari”, for the Devipatan region is being identified.

Notably, the proposal for the university was made in the recent State Budget.
He also said that the construction of a university and medical college along with the implementation of the National Education Policy and the introduction of quality education and state-of-the-art facilities will take the youth forward on the path of progress.

Later in the day, the chief minister interacted with the children of the Tharu community in Balrampur district.

In the review meeting, instructions were also given to the public representatives and officers of the four districts to accelerate the setting up of facilities related to the common people.
