IIT-JEE aspirants’ answersheets to be put online

In a bid to maintain complete transparency in IIT-JEE 2011,the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K) authorities have planned to give separate password to each aspirant which he can use to view his answersheet and marks on the Internet.

In a bid to maintain complete transparency in IIT-JEE 2011,the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K) authorities have planned to give separate password to each aspirant which he can use to view his answersheet and marks on the Internet.

This will be for the first time,when IIT-JEE aspirants will have the opportunity to view the assessment of their performance on the internet. Within 48 hours of the exam,the IITs will declare the answers to all the questions. Once the result is declared,the scanned copies of the answersheet of 4.78 lakh aspirants along with their marks will be placed online.

The IIT-JEE 2011,being conducted by IIT-K,will be held on April 10 and the result is likely to be announced in the last week of May. Till last year,the results were declared online,but the aspirants were not shown their answersheets.

Giving the information,Director,IIT-K,Sanjay Govind Dhande said the move will also help the unsuccessful students to identify their weaknesses and prepare well in the future. He said the date for handing over the password to the aspirants has not been fixed yet.

In IIT-JEE 2011,the aspirants will have to use pencil for marking the answe¿s. “The issue of using a pen was raised but we are yet to take a final decision in the regard and so this year the candidates will have to use pen¿il,” said Dhande.

The IIT-K Director pointed out that the issue of use of pen in the 2012 exam is likely to be discussed in the Joint Admission Board meeting scheduled in September 2011.

Dhande s¿id: “No change has been made in the exam format and the exams will be conducted in two shifts from 9 am to 12 noon and from 2 pm to¿5pm.” He pointed out that the exams will be conducted at 1051 centres under the seven IIT zones of Mumbai,Delhi,Guwahati,Kanpur,Madras,Kharagpur and Roorkee. The Director also said the preparations for the prestigious exams were in the final stage.
