The police arrested a quack and his wife following the recovery of human skulls from his house in Vijay Nagar and a temple in Ambedkar Basti on Friday morning. The quack,Shyam Lal,told the police that he crushed the skulls and used the powder in making medicines. He said he used to get skulls from a place near Bithoor,where bodies were disposed in the Ganga. Two skulls were recovered from the roof of the Kabir temple,which he had built in 1967 and several skulls were also found at his home, said Neera Rawat,DIG. The police is trying to verify whether the skulls were of those bodies disposed in the river. On Friday morning,some labourers working at the spot spotted two skulls on the roof of Kabir Mandir. They immediately informed the police. The police interrogated Lal and then arrested him and his wife Raj Kumari. For the last 10 years,Lal has been running a grocery shop in Vijay Nagar.
