Hamirpur clash: Man held for harassing minor

An FIR against unidentified policemen has been filed by Rahul’s father Rajesh Pandey.

A day after police and locals clashed in Hamirpur’s Bewar town after a 17-year-old girl — allegedly molested — committed suicide, leading to the death of one Rahul Pandey, a man was on Monday arrested for allegedly harassing and beating up the minor.

Following the girl’s death on Saturday, an angry mob had clashed with the police, attacking Bewar police station and damaging vehicles parked inside and outside the building. To control the mob, the police had opened fire, resulting in the death of one person. Later, 17 people were on charges of rioting.

On Monday, accused Bhura Yadav was arrested from near his house in Bewar. Bhura and his elder brother Jitendra Yadav — who was arrested on Sunday — were produced before the court on Monday, which sent them to judicial custody, said Hamirpur ASP Aditya Prakash.
