Govt orders prosecution of BSP MLC,ex-minister

The UP government on Tuesday gave permission to file the chargesheet and initiate prosecution against former animal husbandry minister Awadh Pal Singh Yadav and his brother,BSP MLC Chandra Pratap Singh.

The UP government on Tuesday gave permission to file the chargesheet and initiate prosecution against former animal husbandry minister Awadh Pal Singh Yadav and his brother,BSP MLC Chandra Pratap Singh.

The Vigilance Establishment had registered a case against Yadav and his brother on charges of corruption following direction of the state government and recommendation of Lokayukta in October last year.

The MLC,who is also the chairman of management committee of Etah-based Sri Krishna Lakshman Vidyalaya run by the former minister’s family,is facing charges of financial irregularities in the school’s accounts.

Besides seeking prosecution against the two accused,the Vigilance had also recommended a departmental inquiry or action against government officials who either ignored irregularities by the then minister or helped him. The agency had also recommended to appoint a receiver to look into the irregularities detected in the Etah-based school.

The Vigilance had found that the former minister had misused his status by grabbing land of gram sabha and getting his name included in revenue records illegally.

Besides,the probe also found that he had given contracts of construction of veterinary hospitals to his son’s firm without following the norms.
