Girl’s body found in gunny bag in Lucknow

Body of a 10-year-old girl bundled in a gunny bag was recovered from the roadside near busy Chhangamal crossing in Mahanagar police station area of Lucknow Thursday afternoon, police said.

Police identified the victim as resident of Aliganj, missing since Wednesday evening. Police said the body bore injury marks with no clothes on it while a piece of cloth was stuffed inside the mouth. Autopsy report is awaited to ascertain the cause of death and whether the girl was sexually assaulted, Additional Superintendent of Police, Trans Gomti, Jai Prakash said.

The autopsy will take place Friday, SHO of Mahanagar police station P K Singh said, adding, a case of murder will be lodged at Aliganj police station and other charges could be added going by the autopsy report.
