The wife of Hemraj,the Nepalese domestic help who was murdered along with 14-year-old Aarushi five years ago,thanked the Indian judiciary for ending her long wait for justice by awarding life terms to the dentist-couple.
Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were found guilty of the murder of their teenaged daughter Aarushi and domestic aide Hemraj on the night of May 15-16,2008.
Khum Kala (45) expressed happiness over the sentencing of the Talwars. Today I feel I have won a huge battle. I am now hopeful that I can begin a new life, she said.
I was so excited,I couldnt even share the news which I had been waiting for so long with my ailing son Prajwal and my aged mother-in-law, Khum Kala said.
She also thanked the Indian court,the government of India,journalists and Nepalese welfare organisations in India after the verdict.
It has now been proven that my husband was innocent, she said.
Khum Kala hails from a poor family in Dharapani village in Arghakhachi district of western Nepal. Hemraj went to India in 2008 to find work so that he could educate his son and daughter.
