Four teenagers consume poisonous tablets,3 dead

Four teenage girls from Bidhuna village of Jaunpur district reportedly consumed sulphos tablets on Monday afternoon.

Four teenage girls from Bidhuna village of Jaunpur district reportedly consumed sulphos tablets on Monday afternoon. Three of them were declared dead on arrival at a Varanasi hospital,while the other is said to be in a critical condition.

The girls have been identified as Soni (16) and her cousins — Moni (15),Puja (15) and Khushboo (14). There was a marriage ceremony at Soni’s house on May 30 and her cousins had come to attend it,said Omvir Singh Dhaka,Machhlishahar Circle Officer (CO).

According to VK Dohre,Superintendent of Police of Jaunpur,the exact reason behind their act is yet to be ascertained. The lone survivor is critical and is unable to communicate. An empty sulphos bottle was recovered from the orchard where the girls were found unconscious.

On the other hand,the family members claim that the girls probably took the sulphos tablets to be chocolates and consumed them. Dohre,however,seems unconvinced.

A few other relatives told the police that the deceased were Class X students and had been declared unsuccessful in the recently declared board results. The family,however,denied this. She had secured 73 per cent marks,they said.

In another incident,one 55-year-old woman,Hussain Bano,and her teenage daughter were murdered in Sambhal area of Moradabad district on Monday. The brother-in-law of the deceased — Malik Hussain — has been named in the case. He is yet to be arrested.
