AFTER A gap of around four months, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi would pay a two-day visit to his Lok Sabha constitutency Amethi, beginning December 23.

Rahul is scheduled travel to villages, interact with locals and hold chaupals. He would also hold separate meetings with the local party workers. “Panchayat elections were going on and thus, he could not visit. During his two-day visit, he will visit villages, speak to locals and meet workers,” said Chandrakant Dubey, Rahul’s representative in Amethi.

Recently, the Centre had decided to shift the paper mill project from Amethi, claiming that it has already been delayed due to non-availability of land. Though, local Congress leaders have been raising their voice against this, no protest programme is scheduled where Rahul will participate.

Moreover, during the recent panchayat elections, Congress could not perform as per expectations in Amethi with only a few of party supported candidates winning. While local leaders claim that party would win the zila panchayat chairperson polls, but sources said it would be a difficult task for Congress.
