For development lessons, Aligarh MP plans tour for 12 village women to Gujarat

The tour will be arranged in March on Gautam’s expenses for 12 women.

BJP MP from Aligarh Satish Kumar Gautam has arranged to take 12 women of Baharabad village of his constituency on a two-day tour to Saurya village in Anand district of Gujarat to facilitate their interaction with the women there to learn about development of their own village as a model.

This Gujarat village reportedly has all basic amenities like proper roads, markets, sarai (guest house) and even a swimming pool that villagers have developed with their own efforts. The women there reportedly run ‘Mahila Dairy Pariyojna’ under which they look after livestock and hold responsibility for milk distribution.

Gautam has adopted Baharabad village of Atrauli block for development under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojna (SAGY) of the Central government.

The tour will be arranged in March on Gautam’s expenses for 12 women who are members of different village level committees constituted by the MP for creating awareness among people for education, cleanliness, environment and addiction. The selection criteria of these women is their education and involvement in village activities.

“I had heard that Saurya was a model village in Anand in terms of development. About 10 days back, I visited that village where I found that local women with their active participation have developed the village as a model equipped with all basic amenities,” Gautam said.

He added that the most educated women of Baharabad would be selected for the tour and their interaction with the women of Saurya village would help in the development of their own village. The women would share their experiences with other women and ensure their participation in development of the village as model, which in turn would help women of other districts to visit Baharabad and learn from them.

Gautam added that people in UP villages have so far only heard of the development in Gujarat and hence he chose a village in Anand district for the tour.
