Five fresh dengue cases,three from Lucknow

Five more dengue cases were confirmed at the SGPGI on Wednesday,three of whom are from Lucknow.

Five more dengue cases were confirmed at the SGPGI on Wednesday,three of whom are from Lucknow.

“Of all the samples collected in the last two days,five have tested positive,” said Dr T N Dhole of Microbiology Department at SGPGI.

But Chief Medical Officer of Lucknow Dr A K Shukla said no new cases of the vector-borne disease have been confirmed as the test results of the samples,which were sent on Tuesday,“are still awaited”. “I visited the Prem Nagar area today. Everything is under control. Thirty four samples were collected for dengue test,” he added.

On Monday,Ashish Nishad — a resident of Prem Nagar in the Alam Bagh area — died,becoming the first victim of dengue in Lucknow,this season. The CMO,however,said that Nishad did not die from dengue.

“There has been no confirmation that Ashish Nishad died of dengue. His brother too showed similar symptoms but tested negative for the disease,” said Shukla.
