FIR against 3 UPPCL officials for refusing payment to contractor

An FIR was lodged against three officials of the UP Project Corporation Ltd,a state owned company,at Hazratganj police station Saturday for allegedly refusing payments to a contractor who did work at Bhim Rao Ambedkar Park near Gomti barrage.

An FIR was lodged against three officials of the UP Project Corporation Ltd (UPPCL),a state owned company,at Hazratganj police station Saturday for allegedly refusing payments to a contractor who did work at Bhim Rao Ambedkar Park near Gomti barrage.

Complainant Padmanabham Manglam Kumar Singh,a Lucknow-based contractor,told the police that was given the work to supply soil for levelling the ground of the park without any written agreement or work order by UPPCL engineer K S Pandey. He said he had hired around 46 trucks to supply soil to the park from Arjunganj and did earthwork of around 2 crore cubic metre there at the cost of Rs 69.02 lakh in 2010.

Singh alleged that the UPPCL officials paid him a total of Rs 43.68 lakh in instalments till August last year but the remaining Rs 25.34 lakh was siphoned off by Pandey. Singh alleged that Pandey threatened him of getting blacklisted in the state when he asked for his dues.

He further alleged that he also asked UPPCL’s Assistant Engineer A K Maheshwari and Junior Engineers Ashok Kumar Singh and Anil Kumar Verma for his dues but they gave him death threats.

Police lodged an FIR against Pandey,Maheshwari,Singh and Verma under various sections of IPC including,409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant),420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property),and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Lucknow DIG Ashutosh Pandey said they were trying to nab the accused persons.
