(X/ANI)At least six people, including a woman, were killed and 25 others injured after a car on the wrong side of the road collided with a double-decker bus on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway late Saturday in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district.
The accident took place as the Rae Bareli-Delhi bus fell off the Expressway in an attempt to avoid the car, the police said.
Three of the six deceased, including a woman, were traveling in the car, Etawah’s Circle Officer Shailendra Pratap Gautam said.
The double-decker bus with 60 passengers onboard had a Nagaland registration number, while the Lucknow-bound car was coming from Agra, the police said.
The Etawah police along with senior officials rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident late on Saturday.
The injured persons are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, and all except one victim are said to be in stable condition. The remaining passengers of the bus have been sent to their destinations in other vehicle arrangements, the police added.
During preliminary inquiries, it was revealed that the car driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the central divider, and entered the wrong side of the road. The car then collided with the bus coming from the opposite direction.
In an attempt to avoid the car, the bus driver lost control, causing the bus to fall off the highway.
