A delegation lead by state Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi and MP Jagdambika Pal on Friday submitted a memorandum to Governor T V Rajeswar regarding power and water woes in the state.
In the memorandum,the party has requested the government to look into the matter and ensure that there are no undeclared powercuts in the state.
Pal informed the state government about the worsening power crisis in Sidharthanagar district there has been no power for over 72 hours in many areas.
The party further demanded that emergency control rooms be established for power problems,farmers must receive at least 16 hours of electricity and that dues should not be forcibly recovered from them. They also demanded the rejuvenation of ponds across the state.
The Congress,meanwhile,has declared a day-long protest across the state against power woes on July 4.
Subodh Kumar Srivastava,UPCC chief spokesperson,said: When people are reeling under water and power crisis,the Mayawati government is on the spending spree to construct memorials and statues. The state government should rather invest in improving the infrastructure of power generation.
